Gettin' rusty.

Hey guys. Thanks for all the kind words concerning the sketch. I've been meaning to post the final for a while now, but I've been pretty busy with work. I tried going with now holding lines on this one thinking it would go faster, but man was I wrong. It turned out to be just as difficult trying to make everything work together properly. I'm still not sure it was entirely succesfull, but I figured I'd post it up anyway. Take care everybody and thanks for stopping by.

Hey guys. Here's a recent sketch from some freelance I'm working my way through. For this particular project, my client likes more "realistic" designs, something with a little more dimension, so I had to opt. for a style that's pushed a bit less. And man what a struggle that was, as you can tell by the sketch. I'm definitely a little rusty, but hopefully the final will come out okay. Hope you guys like it.

Oh yah, right..., STRUGGLE? Nice job man! Your lucky that this is REALISTIC to your client, I'm working on a project right now that the client had me change from very simple cartoony to downright awful very realistic, it is a challenge but at least I get to draw. Totally not my style I like to work in. Not my strong suite, oh well. Keep em coming man!

Terrific stuff! But I know what you mean about working outside your normal style, it can feel very awkward. I'm currently working on a comic-book style project and it's a completely different form of visual shorthand than what I have grown used to. But that can be a good thing if it helps us grow and keeps us from turning a regular style into a crutch.

Even though this might not look as good as what you were imagining in your head (or what you could have done in your regular style), it still looks fantastic to the rest of us. Keep up the great work!

RUSTY!?!?!?!
What are you talking about man, these look great! Beautiful subtle expressions. I like how you threw in a cartoon likeness of yourself and Allie. And do I see Don and Robin in there too. Wow it's like I'm in Romper Room. Really though these are awesome, can't wait too see the finished piece.

Yeah - looks great. I like your work that has more dimension. You can tell it's your stuff from a mile away! These days I can't even imagine drawing everyone on one page - so used to compositing everything. Love the composition.

Great job Miah! You really successfully transferred all the life within your sketch into the finished piece. I could see it being difficult to avoid making it look like a mish mash of color but you did a great job surpassing that and making them all fit beautifully!
Kudos!
