Interaction
Heya Gang,
Hope everyone's doing well out in bloggerland. Thanks to all you kind folks that stopped by and left comments on the last post... your kind and encouraging words mean more than you'll ever know, so again thanks for dropping by.
So every now and again a project will come along that is just an absolute joy to work on. I think it's safe to assume that for most artists this is more of a rarity than a norm, at least that's how it is for me, and when you get the chance to work on something like that it really is a treat. This project was one of those rarities. I grew up playing soccer. When I was younger it was my passion, the thing I enjoyed more than anything else, even drawing. I spent hours with my black and white panelled companion developing skills that were necessary to playing at higher levels and to this day I have really fond memories of those times. The ball and I almost had a kind of relationship... as I worked with it more, I found that I could get it to do more interesting and useful things.... it became easier to control the ball and get it to do what I needed it to.
Well when I was approached about this project, the main focus wasn't on what the ball would look like, but rather how the ball and player would relate to one another. The client wanted to the ball to have emotions that were specific to the situation... they wanted to present the viewer with ideas about how the ball and player would interact with one another. The above sketches are what I came up with. Perhaps not the most interesting of designs, but they were a real joy to work on.
Thanks Kevin for letting me take a stab at such a unique and enjoyable project.
Be blessed guys!-
Miah

Awesome. Such nice "movement".
What Shawn said. Your awareness of facial expressions and movement is uncanny. Amazing work, Miah.
